Our Mission

HoosOnAux is a community that brings Hoos together through a shared love of music. We celebrate all genres and encourage everyone to step outside their usual listening habits and discover something new.

We aim to build an inclusive and welcoming community for all music lovers, regardless of background or experience. We see music as a way to bring people together: a medium for connection, creativity, and learning.

Hi! We’re Sophi and Mia, co-founders of HoosOnAux!

We started HoosOnAux back in Spring 2025 because we wanted to create a space where people could come together over something we both love: music. Our completely opposite tastes inspired us to create a club that celebrates all genres and encourages people to step outside their usual listening habits to discover something new. Whether it’s finding a new favorite song, sharing an artist with a friend, going to a concert, or just talking about what’s been on repeat lately, we’ve always loved how music has a way of bringing people closer.

Since then, HoosOnAux has grown into a community full of people who are excited to discover new sounds, share what they love, and create something together. From song breakdowns and artist spotlights to events, interviews, playlists, and collaborations, everything we do is about making UVA’s music scene feel more connected, welcoming, and fun.

We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported HoosOnAux on this journey! By coming to events, interacting with posts, or even just following along, we really appreciate all of you guys and thank you for being here. For those who are new, we hope this can be a place where you discover a new favorite song, meet people who love music as much as you do, and maybe even take over the aux for a little bit.
